Technical Poster Eliminating Failure in Pet Coke Systems with Delta Ducon’s PERMA/flo® Pipe & Elbows

We are proud to share that Delta Ducon’s very own Matt DelPizzo, recently had the honor of presenting a technical poster at the 2026 IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Conference in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. The presentation focused on a critical issue facing many cement and heavy industrial facilities: mitigating extreme erosive wear during the pneumatic transport of petroleum coke.
The Challenge: When Standard Solutions Fail
The poster highlights a recent case study involving a major U.S. cement producer struggling with catastrophic wear rates. Despite using ceramic-lined bends, the facility was plagued by "blowouts" every 30 days, leading to production loss, environmental hazards, and system inefficiencies.
The failure was rooted in the adhesive substrate of the ceramic tiles, which would erode and cause the tiles to dislodge, exposing the exterior steel to rapid destruction.

The results were immediate and impactful. A test installation in the highest wear zone showed zero visible signs of wear after 8 months—a massive leap from the previous 30-day failure cycle. The facility has since seen a lifespan increase from 1 month to over 1 year.
