Historically, the accepted method to convey ash was
in a high volume, low pressure airstream condition.
While effective at material movement, these high
velocities required a significant amount of energy
and created excessive wear on the system.
The alternative technology preferred by the power
industry is Dense Phase Conveying, which utilizes
much smaller volumes of air at higher pressures and
slower velocities. Doing so allows this system to
convey high volumes of material in a solid plug
condition, thereby reducing the wear on the system
and conserving energy.
